Singer Claire Rosinkranz was bound to be an entertainer. Her paternal grandfather was the Iceland National Theatre’s artistic director for 23 years. His wife, her grandmother, was an opera singer.
Born in Iceland and raised in Sweden, her father, Ragnar, toured Europe as a conductor and violinist.
“He has a pretty wild upbringing, then he came to the States and met my mom, and now we’re all here,” she said enthusiastically.
Rosinkranz and Ragnar — her producer and longtime collaborator — worked on her latest album, “My Lover,” which was released in February. She said the collection “addresses the men who mistake control for strength.” She will promote “My Lover” during an intimate Sunday, June 7, tour stop at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix.

“Honestly, it’s just my friends and me having a really good time,” she said, calling from Washington, D.C. “It’s something that you have to experience. I feel like it’s really easy to be myself and have a good time.”
Rosinkranz is a platinum-certified, genre-blending singer-songwriter whose first single, 2020’s platinum hit “Backyard Boy,” earned an MTV VMA for Best Breakthrough Song. Her catalog has surpassed 1 billion global streams.
Her 2023 debut album, “Just Because” led to a collaboration with Role Model, and a spot opening for Maroon 5 on its “Love is Like” 2025 fall U.S. tour.
The title “My Lover” suggests a simple love letter, but the collection reaches for something far more layered. Rosinkranz frames it as a kind of unruly garden, where roots knot around weeds, beauty and rot coexist, and every cycle of dying back makes room for strange, surprising bloom.
“A garden can look dark, dangerous or bad,” she said. “But they aren’t always bad. They can produce light. They’re light to people. It’s healing for people. It’s important to use all of those experiences.
“All that works.”
Recently, she wrapped up a European arena tour with Alex Warren, which proved to be a learning experience.
“It was really amazing to see the way that he shows up for such a large audience every night,” she said.
“He’s been so vulnerable with his fans. He really takes time to have conversations with people in the audience and connect with them, and his music is very emotional. It’s very deep, very vulnerable, and some of it is very dark as well, but it’s through that that he really connects with people, and that’s even.”
Now she’s ready to connect with her American fans.
“Everything is just familiar,” she said. “I am feeling refreshed and re-energized doing my own thing in the States.” Now, she’s traveling through clubs.
“It makes me excited to continue to level up in venue sizes,” she said. “But honestly, I was craving smaller, more intimate venues. Then, I can see all the fans and experience the energy bouncing off the walls.”
