2019 was a monster year for the world of metal music. Not only did we get the first album from Tool in 13 years, but we received noteworthy albums by Rammstein, Blood Incantation, Slipknot, and more.

And while these records were highly anticipated by fans, many were also acclaimed by the critics as well.

Now, for the new decade, we can expect new albums from one of the godfathers of metal (Ozzy Osbourne), heroes of alt-mental (Deftones), the “Twins of Evil” (Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson), and many more.

If you want to learn about the most anticipated upcoming metal albums then continue reading and we’ll walk you through everything you need to know.

1. Ordinary Man – Ozzy Osbourne

We’re expecting Ordinary Man to be one of the most ambitious Ozzy Osbourne albums ever. The album is said to have guest performances from rock and pop’s most well-known players, including Post Malone, Tom Morello, Elton John, and Slash. Plus, the backing band features Chad Smith and Duff McKagan, so we can safely say this album is going to be packed with talent.

Despite Ozzy’s rough go at 2019, including illness and injury, Ozzy’s voice on the early singles of the album sound more haunting than ever before. As metal’s most mainstream and visible personality, Osbourne continues to experiment with new styles and take in younger and younger generations as his fans.

While some metal purists might feel that Ozzy is selling out, they should understand that the man is a showman above all else and remains a wise, charming, and humble ambassador for metal music.

2. TBA – Deftones

While the album doesn’t have a name yet, Chino Moreno has promised fans that they can expect Deftones to release a new LP this year. As their career has progressed, the romantic vision that the band has placed upon metal music has only become more important to them.

Gore and Koi No Yokan saw the Deftones soften their rough edges and express fleeting emotions by way of more atmospheric and slower tracks. But don’t expect it to be too soft. More excited his fans by comparing the new record to their classic album, White Pony.

3. TBA – Rob Zombie

Rob Zombie is the renaissance man of metal. The virtuoso has been splitting his time between movies and music over the years. And as the release of 3 From Hell finalizes the Firefly film trilogy, Zombie can finally turn his attention back to music.

Fans of Zombie should definitely get excited, especially since Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5 claimed the new album will be the best Zombie album ever made. There’s no word yet on a release date or title but if we choose to believe John 5, then we’ve got one hell of an album coming up.

4. TBA – Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson is one of the most shocking and unpredictable artists in metal history. In the last decade, he released some of his best work, including Heaven Upside Down and The Pale Emperor.

Manson has been talking up his new record a lot lately. What we do know is that it’s being produced by country outlaw Shooter Jennings. And Manson has already pleased fans with recent covers of The Doors’ “The End” as well as the folk song “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.”

And as Manson is supposed to support to join Ozzy Osbourne during a North American tour this summer, 2020 should make for another big year for metal.

5. The Institute – King Diamond

King Diamonds 2019 single “Masquerade of Madness” was one of the best metal tracks of last year. True metal purists should be thoroughly excited about what he has in store for 2020.

According to the artist himself, “Masquerade of Madness” was recorded without any compression. That makes sense, considering how the track sounds like an analog timepiece of metal’s rugged past. Prior to that single, the band hadn’t released new music in over ten years so fans are especially excited for what’s next.

King Diamon intends for The Institute to be a musical saga and they intend to release two albums in the near future. The Institute apparently tells the story of the psychological torments faced by a girl locked away in an institution.

6. TBA – Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden are absolute legends in the world of heavy metal. And each new record they release only adds to the lore that the band has spent years building.

Singer Bruce Dickinson plays the narrator who takes us through these long and fantastic epics. He manages to deftly weave literary motifs and themes across the most beautiful metal music a person could want.

There’s no expected release date for the new album and no name yet either although there are rumors that the band secretly recorded the album sometime in 2019. 2020 marks five years since The Book of Souls came out in 2015 and fans can hardly contain their excitement.

Whenever it does come out, you want to make sure that you get a high-quality music download so you can listen to the album in all its metal glory.
