Courtesy Volvo of Scottsdale has struck a partnership with The Carbon Offset Company that will make purchasing a new or used vehicle from the dealership 100% carbon neutral.  For each vehicle sold, participating customers will have the option to have 15 trees planted on their behalf offsetting 10,170 lbs. of carbon emissions per year. This means purchasing a car from the Scottsdale dealership can be 100% carbon neutral.

“At a time when the average vehicle emits 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year making up 30% of a typical household’s carbon footprint, Courtesy Volvo is making it possible for customers to completely neutralize their vehicle’s carbon impact through tree reforestation in communities that need it most,” says Jeremy Sarnataro, general manager of Courtesy Volvo.

The move comes as Courtesy Automotive Group becomes even more environmentally friendly with the recent launch of its EV Polestar brand at Scottsdale Fashion Square. And follows on the heels of Volvo’s announcement that the brand will become fully electric by 2030.  Locally, Courtesy Volvo has already made other concrete commitments to becoming carbon neutral by moving to eliminate single-use plastic bottles and creating zero waste.

“We are excited to partner with Courtesy Volvo and proud of the positive impact we will make on the environment together,” says The Carbon Offset Company’s Co-Founder, Anthony Meshnick.  He adds, “Courtesy Volvo is setting the standard for how fossil fuel-reliant vehicle owners can neutralize their car’s negative impact on the environment while helping to restore trees, a precious natural resource.”

The Carbon Offset Company plants trees domestically in Oregon, Florida, Appalachia and California and internationally in Madagascar, Haiti, Senegal and Mozambique.  Reforestation partners include One Tree Planted,  National Forest Foundation, Eden Restoration, Plant with Purpose, and Trees for the Future.
