Farm & Craft in Scottsdale is partnering with Valley of the Sun United Way (VSUW) to raise money and help fund community gardens throughout Maricopa County.

Starting Thursday, September 26, 2019, the local restaurant will donate 50 percent of the sales from their signature Probiotic Bowl, on both the lunch and dinner menu, to VSUW. The Probiotic Bowl is made of warm garbanzo beans with olive and tomato, quinoa tabbouleh, red beet power kraut, shaved pickled cucumber, romaine hearts and cucumber herb yogurt sauce. The money raised by Farm & Craft through February 2020 will directly benefit the local charity and its community empowerment efforts. The first project being at Frank Elementary School in Guadalupe.

“Valley of the Sun United Way is honored to have a partner such as Farm & Craft who is willing to collaborate with us to help End Hunger in the Classroom by supporting this school garden. Frank Elementary School in Guadalupe is an excellent partner with VSUW as they have taken great steps to ensure that hunger will not be a barrier in a student’s success. This new school garden is a key part of the Farm to School model and we are so grateful to have the support of Farm & Craft and we look forward to more projects to help students eat healthy and understand where their food comes from,” says Jayson Matthews, Community Impact Director for Valley of the Sun United Way.

Valley of the Sun United Way fights to break the cycle of poverty for kids, families, and the neighborhoods in Maricopa County. Through this special partnership with Farm & Craft, United Way can bring community gardens into neighborhoods to provide a simple way to make healthy eating easy. They will train community members to become garden experts helping them keep produce healthy and growing throughout the seasons and offer support after the installation. Gardens are built at low-income schools and parks to educate children on gardening and healthy eating.

Farm & Craft has recruited support from local businesses such as Outrageous Olive Oils & Vinegars and Garden Goddess to utilize their products in the Probiotic Bowl and further expand this community partnership.
