The 100 percent nonprofit, three-day music festival in Downtown Phoenix, the McDowell Mountain Music Festival, is gearing up for another weekend of charity and amazing music this Friday, March 3 to Sunday, March 5.

No stranger to this festival, The Shins will be playing on Friday night, with Chromeo and Flume set for Saturday and Gov’t Mule set to finish out the festival on Sunday night.

The festival will be held at Margaret T. Hance Park, at 67 W. Culver St., in the center of Downtown Phoenix, near the light rail and Roosevelt Row.

Like every year, the lineup offers a mix of local and national bands. In previous years, Beck, Kid Cudi, Portugal. The Man and many other popular bands played the festival.

Since the festival moved to Downtown Phoenix five years ago, about 13,000 to 16,000 people attend the three-day long event each year. All of the proceeds at the McDowell Mountain Music Festival go to charity.

This year, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and UMOM will be the recipients of all of the festival’s proceeds.

There will be lots of awesome vendors at the festival to to get swag from and plenty of food trucks will be at the event to keep you fed while you dance and party away to the bands.

“The M3F team strives to create a great an all-around experience for each and every attendee that walks through the gates. Don’t just expect great music but truly a community-minded event,” said Brooke Schneider, an organizer for the festival. “This year, we have amazing national and local bands playing, so many tasty food trucks, and tons of local vendors. M3F offers attendees the opportunity to truly bask in the community and the culture that Phoenix has to offer.”

The festival runs from Friday, March 3, with the first band, Huckleberry taking the stage at 3:30 p.m. and The Shins closing the night out, starting their set at 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, March 4 Harrison Fjord will start the day off at 2:30 p.m., and Flume will close the night out at 9:45 p.m.

Finally, Mr. Mudd & Mr. Gold will start Sunday’s festivities at 2:30 p.m. and Gov’t Mule will close the evening out at 8 p.m.
