Looking for something unique to do this weekend? Whether you’re in the mood to play in the sand or to float high above the Valley in a hot air balloon, we’ve got you covered with five exciting events:
Sandfest 2016
Sandfest 2016 is a community beach party with activities for all ages at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. The weekend festivities kick off with an adults-only Beach Bum Block Party on Friday. This event features live entertainment, food trucks, cash bars, beach volleyball, giant beer pong and tons of sand. On Saturday and Sunday, all ages are invited for free sand activities, giant sand sculptures and live entertainment. After enjoying the sand festivities, check out the Children’s Museum for a reduced admission price of $8 per person.
Details: Friday, March 4 – Sunday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the Beach Bum Block Party start at $20.
My Nana’s Best Tasting Salsa Challenge
Enjoy all the chips and salsa you can eat as you taste over 100 salsas prepared by Valley chefs and vote for your favorite. The event, located at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix, also features live music, a margarita mix-off and activities for kids.
Details: Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets start at $15 and admission is free for kids under age 12.
Paint PHX
Graffiti and street artists from near and far will be beautifying downtown Phoenix in this mural painting event. On Saturday there will be a free block party located on the block of Fifth Street and Roosevelt with live murals, live music, vendors and activities for kids.

Out West Balloon Fest
Watch as hot air balloons take flight above Glendale in a mass ascension at the University of Phoenix Stadium. You can also book a flight on a balloon for a 3-hour ride of a lifetime. There will be music, vendors, food and a 5k fun run on Saturday morning.
Details: Friday, March 4 – Sunday, March 6. Ticket prices vary from $7 to $20.
Melrose on 7th Avenue Street Fair
This free community event features hundreds of local artists, chefs and vendors in the Melrose District on Seventh Avenue. There will be food trucks, activities for kids and a craft beer and margarita garden. Also, check out over 200 classic, antique and vintage cars at Chester’s Classic Car Show.
Details: Saturday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
