Digits on the thermometer may be dropping, but the event calendar for the Grand Canyon Railway is just heating up. It’s holiday season for the Railway and that means specialty trains and special rates galore. From the Railway’s festive Pumpkin Patch Train and the area’s popular Harvest Festival, to the magical holiday excursion, THE POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride presented by Grand Canyon Railway, ’tis the season to take in all the Railway has to offer.
Only one weekend remains to board the Railway’s Pumpkin Patch Train before the train turns into a pumpkin itself, not to return until October 2016. Pick out the perfect pumpkin at a secret patch only accessible by train, and then spend the afternoon enjoying the arts, crafts, and entertainment at the Williams Train Depot. Trains depart 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. October 17-18. Tickets are $23 for adults and $18 for children, visit www.thetrain.com/special-events/the-pumpkin-patch/.
The Pumpkin Patch Train presented by Grand Canyon Railway is also part of the annual Alpine Harvest Festival, a month-long celebration of the autumn season in Williams. Other attractions include Bearizona’s “Howly, Growly, Owly” fall festival, featuring open-air bus tours of the wildlife park and a scarecrow judging contest organized by the Williams Chamber of Commerce.
For those seeking a multi-day adventure, the Railway is offering a special on its most popular package, the Canyon Discovery Package. Now through November 5, 2015 guests will receive 50% off the cost to upgrade to First Class tickets on the roundtrip train travel from Williams, AZ to the Grand Canyon. Also included in the package are accommodations at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel, meals, and a motorcoach tour at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Rounding out the Railway’s busy fall season is the arrival of THE POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride presented by Grand Canyon Railway, which runs November 6 through January 3. Even if visions of sugar plums aren’t yet dancing in visitor’s heads, it’s best to book early via the Railway’s website, www.thetrain.com/special-events/the-polar-express/, as many peak dates and times for this special train are already sold out.
