If you’re of a certain generation, you will remember the children’s book series “Choose Your Own Adventure.” All manner of adventures could happen in the flip of a few pages. Consider the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa the grown-up version of Choose Your Own Adventure—or rather, “Choose Your Own Sanctuary.”
During my recent staycation, I was surprised to discover the extent of Sanctuary’s staycation selections. While you certainly don’t need to experience a structured Sanctuary adventure, there are plenty from which to choose if you do!
Take, for example, the star-studded Nirvana Food & Wine Festival featuring the best in internationally recognized chefs, winemakers, celebs and more, your innermost foodie can feast on culinary greatness while your eyes can focus on Sanctuary’s natural surrounding beauty (spectacular views of Camelback Mountain).
Or, rather than a typical girls’ trip, consider taking advantage of a pre-planned serenity soiree with the upcoming Women’s Recharge Retreat. With the guidance of Sarah McLean, Hay House author and meditation expert, women friends can share in an immersion of meditation and mindfulness practices with an added dose of spa spoilage.
These experiences are two of many relaxing, meditative, foodie, fitness, mixology and additionally themed packages from which to choose.
And, while having an adventure mapped out perfectly to your tailored needs is divine—you could simply sit and stare out the window and have a lovely time at Sanctuary. The views are spectacular. The pool is inviting and refreshing. And the spa …
I recommend getting the Sanctuary Salt and Stone massage. You’ll be asked if you want a massage enhancement. Do it. Get them all—the warm and toasty, delicious lime scalp extra was my favorite! Of course, there are plenty of other services from which to choose: body treatments, thai massage, reiki, salon pedicures and manicures, and much more.
You can even get spa services delivered to your room!
For eats, Sanctuary offers Elements and the Jade Bar. I had one of the hands-down best Caesar Salads (with a spicy kick) I’ve ever had for lunch at Jade, followed by a decadent fresh catch of the day dinner accompanied by the Watermelon and Heirloom Tomato Salad at Elements. Whatever you order is bound to be fresh, flavorful and indicative of the culinary genius of Chef Beau Macmillan.
Everything that Sanctuary offers—whether packaged or al’ la carte is certain to give you the serenity and ease you’ve been seeking. Sanctuary’s art deco clad, modern mountain villas, casitas and suites provide an ambiance that beckons relaxation, privacy and or space for entertaining.
As a fun staycation anecdote, one of the bell staff mentioned that the casita I was staying in was designed by one of Charlie Chaplin’s offspring.
That’s the other added bonus of Sanctuary—the service! Everyone is friendly and intuitive about your state of being (relaxed, energized, etc.)—from the front desk and dining staff to the sales team and spa attendants. If there’s something you need to make your stay more satisfying, invigorating or relaxing they will help you choose your own best adventure.
