Celebrated for being the ultimate automotive lifestyle event, Barrett-Jackson is adding more family-fun activities and entertainment to its 48th Annual Scottsdale Auction, January 12-20, 2019, at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Built to inspire the next generation of collector car enthusiasts, the Barrett-Jackson STEM Center, presented by Shell and powered by Pennzoil, will give kids of all ages the chance to engage in fun, hands-on learning activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In addition, Barrett-Jackson will also be hosting the first-ever Bullfighters Only (BFO) Barrett-Jackson Invitational – a taste of an exciting and unique western sport. Both events are free to Barrett-Jackson Auction guests and will be held in the WestWorld Equidome.

“While collector cars are the heartbeat of our event, we strive to build a true automotive lifestyle experience that offers a variety of entertainment and activities for the whole family,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Last year we hosted our first STEM Center, which was an instant hit with our guests. This year, Shell and Pennzoil are adding some real horsepower to the STEM Center by hosting a variety of new hands-on, immersive activities. We want to inspire the next generation of collector car enthusiasts and believe the STEM Center is the perfect way to prepare today’s youth to carry our exciting hobby into the future.”

Among other engaging activities in the STEM Center, guests of Barrett-Jackson can:

• Learn how to code and race robots with Code Ninjas

• Watch live demonstrations from the Mesa Police Department Forensics team

• Participate in the University of Arizona Medical School’s Wildcat Play Hospital

• Build a circuit to run a motor with Grand Canyon University

• Skate and learn about the science of hockey at the Arizona Coyote’s play rink

• Take on a variety of automotive-focused engineering challenges with the Arizona Science Center

• Race a JetToy and check out other cool SAE Foundation projects

The STEM Center, presented by Shell – powered by Pennzoil, will be open Saturday, January 12, through Tuesday, January 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (3 p.m. on Sunday).

From Thursday, January 17, through Saturday, January 19, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening (and included with each Barrett-Jackson Auction general admission ticket, including twilight tickets), Barrett-Jackson is hosting the first-ever Bullfighters Only Barrett-Jackson Invitational in the WestWorld Equidome. Freestyle bullfighting is the ultimate competition between one man and one animal, alone in an arena in a matchup of skill, finesse and athleticism versus power, size and ferocity. Completely different from traditional Latin American bullfighting, no bulls are harmed whatsoever during the modern-day gladiator matchups, each of which provides up to 60 seconds of nonstop, electrifying intensity, with the spotlight tightly focused on the bullfighter and bull performing in the center of the arena.
