Cavender’s Boot City sees itself as part of Arizona’s extended family. It’s strengthening those ties with two new stores in the Valley and Southern Arizona.

The retailer will debut its latest Tucson location at 7200 E. Broadway Blvd. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, with a Gilbert store to follow at 2817 S. Market St. Celebration details for both openings will be announced soon.

“Tucson’s just a really good market for Cavender’s,” said Cheryl Millard, the district manager.

“We’ve been incredibly encouraged by the support we’ve received over the past year. Opening our third Tucson location allows us to better service our existing customers while introducing the Cavender’s experience to even more people throughout the area.”

Authenticity, family and reliability create the backbone of Cavender’s, a company founded in 1965 by James and Patricia “Pat” Cavender in Pittsburg, Texas.

What started with a handful of Tony Lama boots has grown into more than 130 stores across 18 states. Each location includes the founders’ photo.

“We’re more than just a Western retailer,” Millard said. “We’re a family‑owned company passionate about the Western lifestyle. Everything we do is centered around creating an authentic experience for our customers.”

The new 15,655‑square‑foot Tucson store carries Cavender’s full line of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel — boots, hats, jeans, dresses, belts, workwear, and accessories — including labels like Ariat, Wrangler, and Resistol, plus Cavender’s exclusive brands Rockin’ C, Rafter C and JRC & Sons.

But Millard said the store’s services are just as important as its merchandise.

“We offer custom boot fittings because boots fit differently than regular shoes,” she said. “If it’s your first time buying boots, we want to spend time with you, sit you down, and help you find the right fit.”

The hat bar is a beloved spot; customers can shape, personalize, clean or reshape their hats.

“People come in just to talk to us,” Millard said with a laugh. “That’s what I love most about working for Cavender’s. It’s really built on relationships. That’s missing in the service industry today, but Cavender’s is bringing that back.”

While three stores in one city might seem surprising, Millard said Tucson’s Western heritage makes it an ideal match.

“Some people aren’t familiar with Tucson and where it’s located, but we’ve got Bisbee, Tombstone — some of the best surrounding areas,” she said. “We fit perfectly here.”

Cavender’s expansion in Arizona isn’t slowing down. Millard confirmed new stores are coming to Gilbert, Tempe and Goodyear by the end of the year. The Gilbert location will open in the former Big Lots space off Market Street, next to Ulta — a spot she described as “a great location.”

“We’re so excited to welcome people experiencing Cavender’s for the first time, and we want those who already shop at our other Tucson stores to visit this one as well,” she added.
