GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, We’re an American Band) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God of Thunder.” Joining Don and Mel are true “All-Stars.” Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special, Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick and Keyboardist Tim Cashion. Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard-driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. Grand Funk’s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape fifty years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a true testament to the group’s influence and staying power. Mega-hits “We’re an American Band,” “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home,” “Locomotion,” and “Some Kind of Wonderful.” The group has now accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records. The multi-talented band carries on the tradition of Grand Funk hits and creates a new chapter in the legacy of Grand Funk Railroad.
JEFFERSON STARSHIP. When founding member Paul Kantner formed Jefferson Starship in the ’70s, he envisioned the band as a cast of musical adventurers, contributing to his epic concept albums and eventual deep catalog of rock classics. Jefferson Starship’s five members describe themselves as both a “family” and a “gang,” and that comes across in talking to them, and in their robust live performances, which have taken them to all 50 U.S. states, five continents, and too many countries to list here. In addition to original member David Freiberg, the band includes drummer Donny Baldwin, keyboardist Chris Smith, guitarist Jude Gold, and singer and guitarist Cathy Richardson. As Jefferson Starship approaches their 50th anniversary, the group’s members look to the future with the word Kantner, who unfortunately died in 2016, used to say to them all the time: “Onward.”
FRAN COSMO & ANTON COSMO of BOSTON. Fran Cosmo exploded onto the Rock scene when he took over for Brad Delp as the lead singer for the Legendary group BOSTON in 1992. Fran was featured as the lead vocalist on the “Walk On” album which sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Certified Platinum in America and certified Platinum in Canada. Walk On reached #7 on the Billboard Charts and produced the hit single “I Need Your Love”, which climbed to #4 on the Mainstream Rock Chart. Fran Cosmo was a member of BOSTON and toured with them from 1992 to 2006. Fran Cosmo and Brad Delp shared lead vocal duties on the BOSTON Album Corporate America. The release also featured Fran Cosmo singing a rare live version of “Livin’ For You”, the power-ballad from the Walk-On record and BOSTON‘S Greatest Hits, which ultimately became one of the fan favorites at the live concerts over the years. Fran Cosmo is currently performing live with his own band, best known for his high-energy performances and powerful rock vocals. Expect new music, a single with a video, and an exciting new set-list to perform live.
NATE NATHAN AND THE MAC DADDY-O’S. The Phoenix-based musical band formed and led by Nate Nathan follows Nate’s passion for music. As it increased, he called upon all of his musically inclined friends to help take his music and theirs to the next level. The 11-piece band Mac Daddy-O’s have been a popular opening addition to The Good Life Festival in previous years, delivering a popular and lively performance.
EL COYOTE. Regional Mexican/tejano artist El Coyote decided to go on his own in 1997 after participating in bands such as La Costeña, La Banda el Limón, and Los Recoditos. Tierra Santa was formed that same year, soon recording El Coyote y Su Banda Tierra Santa‘s debut album, Aquí Me Quedaré, followed by 1998’s Concedeme. To promote 1999’s El Amo and Profundamente, the group started touring Mexico and the U.S., successfully performing live for thousands of Mexican music fans. The large band signed to Fonovisa in 2005 and issued Suspiros, whose title track was a hit single. Gradually, as their career progressed, they began playing more narcocorridos, which had become fashionable in Sinaloa, though their approach remained strictly traditional. Albums such as 2006’s Prohibido and 2008’s El Polo Norte reinforced this, though alternate recordings continued to focus on love songs and party anthems. They left Fonovisa after 2009’s Levanta Tu Vuelo. In 2015, EMI Latin issued the compilation 20 Corridos Bien Perrones, which ran up the Mexican regional charts, underscoring the group’s continued popularity.
LUPILLO RIVERA. Lupillo Rivera is a charting, award-winning Mexican singer, producer, and songwriter. The younger brother of the late icon Jenni Rivera, he is affectionately known as “El Toro del Corrido” in honor of his uncle (“El Toro”), a famous Mexican boxer. Rivera, like his sister, is a traditional Mexican Regional singer of banda — lively Mexican roots music that originated in the 19th century and is recognizable in the modern era by its reliance on wind and brass instruments and percussion. Though he sings a wide variety of rancheras, corridos, cumbias, baladas, and boleros, he is best known as one of the leading exponents of corrido delivered in a rollicking, exuberant style with quirky, unpredictable, percussion-driven horn arrangements. Rivera has been on the recording scene since 1995, but it wasn’t until 2001’s chart-topping Despreciado that he became well-known. Since that time, he’s netted 15 Top 50 singles and numerous charting albums on the Hot Latin Albums and Mexican Regional Albums lists. Four of his albums (beginning with Despreciado) have reached the Top 200. He has been nominated for numerous Grammy Awards and won for 2009’s Tu Esclavo y Amo. His 2014 album, El Rey de Los Borrachos, reached number 13 at Top Latin albums.
