The Raphaology Lifestyle: Make The Switch To Peak Foods

Dr. Morning Wolf was gluten intolerant when she was young and had the worst reaction to gluten of anyone she had ever known. Her gluten allergy was so bad, she would end up in the hospital with her lungs filling up with fluid until she couldn’t breathe. This affliction limited the types of foods she could eat — mainly foods that give your body the nutrition it needs to stay healthy. Over time, eating a diet of fortified, enriched, low-fat, etc. foods, she ended up with arthritis, kidney disease, liver cancer and several other maladies.

After being told by doctors that she had only weeks to live, she met Jonathan Wolf, who had healed himself through changing his diet, and he showed her how to heal, too. As part of her healing journey, she and Jonathan traveled to different countries, where they discovered the healing practices of indigenous cultures. They gathered the best of these methods and put together a way of living they called Raphaology.

This is a type of lifestyle and a way of eating that goes beyond your typical organic lifestyle. Raphaology focuses on only eating food with “peak” nutritional value. Peak foods are foods that have not been altered by man and have absorbed life-force energy from the sun in the form of enzymes and other nutrients. These foods provide the greatest ability for your body to digest and assimilate its nutrients, feeding each gland and organ what it needs to heal and thrive.

The main food you can add to your diet every day that will give your body all the essential fatty acids you need is half an avocado and 2 tbsp. of cold-pressed, extra virgin olive oil (not heated). As you eat these healthy oils, your body will immediately start to process out the bad oils because that is what our bodies were created to do; we were created to replace the bad with the good so our bodies can heal.

To begin the process of improving your health with Raphaology, below is a list of 10 of Dr. Wolf’s recommendations:

1. Instead of apples, eat pears or mangoes.

Have you noticed the shelf life of an apple can be a few months? A pear will break down in a matter of weeks. This is indicative of the higher enzyme potential in pears to digest food.

2. Instead of carrots, eat yams or jicama.

Raphaology Peak Foods, Yams

Have you ever heard of people’s skin turning orange after eating a lot of carrots? Dr. Wolf says this happens because the beta-carotene in carrots is not as assimilable to the human body. If the body cannot process it, it stores it in the skin. Yams are a better source of beta-carotene.

3. Instead of blueberries, eat blackberries, raspberries, strawberries or cranberries.

Blueberries used to break down very quickly indicating higher enzyme activity. Now they sit on the shelf a lot longer. If you eat strawberries, just make sure that they are organic because pesticides are prevalent in commercial strawberries.

4. Instead of coffee, drink Papua New Guinea coffee.

This coffee is actually alkalizing and detoxifying to the system. I’ve not been able to find it in Arizona, but you can purchase it online at www.lborganic.com.

5. Instead of oatmeal, eat barley flakes.

Barley is more alkalizing to your system. Again, make it organic. After looking all around Arizona for organic barley, I finally found it at Whole Foods.

6. Instead of chicken eggs, eat duck eggs.

The reason for this is that chickens have been so affected by the food industry that it is difficult to find a chicken that hasn’t been altered, even if it is organic. According to Dr. Wolf, an organic chicken should be about the size of your fist. If the chickens on the rotisserie of the grocery stores I frequent are any indication of average size, then I don’t think I’ve ever seen an organic chicken.

7. Instead of beef, eat bison.

Bison has been protected from being injected with hormones. They also do not produce a fear hormone when slaughtered which can help maintain the integrity of the meat.

8. Instead of russet potatoes, eat organic red potatoes.

A while back, there was a brand of potatoes that had been genetically modified. The reports I have seen say they are no longer on the market. My current understanding is that red potatoes have never been genetically modified.

9. Instead of sugar or artificial sweeteners, use Sucanat (brand), grade B maple syrup, or honey.

Raphaology Peak Foods, Honey
These are more natural for the body, and grade B maple syrup is full of minerals, especially manganese. Manganese is what keeps your ileocecal valve strong. Sugar can strip manganese from your system, and if that ileocecal valve is weak, it can lead to systemic Candida, so make the simple switch to grade B maple syrup.

10. Instead of salt, use Real Salt.

Raphaology Peak Foods, Salt
This is a brand of salt that comes from an ancient seabed in Utah. It is unrefined salt and contains more than 60 trace minerals. The rule of thumb is that the salt you ingest should come from the continent you live on because it has the right balance of minerals for the people who live on that continent.
