Cox Charities is asking Valley non-profits that focus on K-12 youth and education programs to submit proposals for grants valued at $10,000 or less. This year’s grant cycle will open April 30th and close May 28th.

To better inform the non-profit community about the process for submitting applications and to answer questions, Cox Charities will host a grant application orientation session on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30.

During the orientation session, non-profits will learn about what Cox Charities is looking for in grant proposals. Additionally they will learn what grant funding can be applied for. For example, Cox Charities cannot be used for capital expenditures or general operations, or for the provision of healthcare/therapy services, basic needs, entertainment, or socialization/recreation programs.

Orientation sessions concerning the process are scheduled on April 29 and April 30 in Phoenix at The Arizona Community Foundation.

In 2013, Cox Charities distributed $569,000 to 59 non-profits throughout metro Phoenix. Cox Charities funds are raised through employee-driven fundraisers and personal contributions throughout the year, as well as community fundraising partnerships. Since its inception in 1996, Cox has awarded nearly $5 million in grants to non-profit organizations for youth education programs that help build our next generation of community leaders.

Over the past eighteen years, Cox Charities has funded local non-profits that focus on science and technology, arts and culture, safe and healthy lifestyles, overcoming disabilities, mentoring, literacy, leadership development, social skills development, and other areas benefiting youth in the Valley.

Additional support is given to these communities through volunteerism by Cox employees. In an effort to be the most trusted provider of communication and entertainment services, Cox supports Cox Charities grant recipients by encouraging Cox employees to volunteer time in support of past recipients. Past grant recipients who have hosted Cox volunteer employees include the Phoenix Zoo, Boys & Girls Clubs, Childhelp, HandsOn Greater Phoenix, the Make a Wish Foundation, Homeward Bound and many more.
