For Arizona residents and visitors, hydration is key. And while H2O-based hydration is extremely important in getting ahead of Arizona’s sweltering climate effects, hydration of the mind and the soul is an added plus. The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is the ultimate source of all manner of hydration for the summer traveler, the weary Phoenician in need of a staycation and anyone looking for a relaxing, pampering, and tranquil experience.

Easy highway access from Phoenix and great summer rates create an accessible staycation at Dove Mountain, which is one of the world’s top eight rated luxury spa/hotel properties. It’s also perfect for families, thanks to all the kids’ activities and three pools, including one with a water slide and splash pad.

Nestled next to the Town of Marana’s Tortolita Mountains, The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is a literal paradise for visitors near and far. Golfers, sun worshipers, spa enthusiasts, entertainment goers, foodies, families, writers (especially writers) and really — anyone — can and will find something to get immerse the hands, feet, and body into. This includes a gorgeous infinity pool, family pool with a slide (you must try it at least once — or 20 times) and an exclusive “Serenity Pool,” for spa patrons.

And the spa

Let me tell you! If you happen to be Jonesing for self-care, have any inkling of stress, or want to hydrate your mind, body and spirit—go to the Dove Mountain Spa. You will thank me after your Agave Nectar Swedish Massage (on special until August 29th) or any of the signature “Gemstone” massages. Be sure to take a peek at the summer “Hydrating Series” summer offerings below.

During my stay, I opted for the hot-stone massage. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one Jessica the massage therapist lures into a relaxation-induced coma. Thank you, Senior Spa Supervisor Poli Icedo, for the recommendation! Poli and team will help you find the spa service needed to unwind or re-energize (accordingly).

Whether zenned out from spa-ing, biking, hiking, golfing or simply lounging all day, you will surely be hungry. You’re in luck. Dove Mountain offers several dining experiences: Core Kitchen & Wine Bar, Ignite, Sushi Bar & Sake and Turqesa Latin Grill. I had the good fortune of eating at Core and Ignite. And, if the Sushi Bar and Latin Grill are anything like Core and Ignite, you will not be disappointed. I recommend the Jambalaya and Rib-Eye at Core, and if you want a burger, bursting with flavor—Ignite is your best bet (the peppers alone make it worth it)!

Whether on a one-person soul-searching quest, a family vacation, or a girlfriend getaway, Dove Mountain is a sanctuary all can enjoy. The rooms are beautiful, offering pristine mountain views. The service is second to none (employees practically bend over backward to ensure maximum spoiling of guests)! And, food and entertainment are plentiful.

Erin’s Dove Mountain Anecdote: When enjoying your pool leisure time, order the nachos! Hands down the best in the Southwest. A half order with the addition of the Chef’s special chicken recipe should do nicely.
