Kitty Pause Kitty Café, the place to pause and play with feline friends in a cat cafe environment, is coming to Mesa, Ariz., opening in spring of 2021. Located off Dobson and Guadalupe, the new kitty café will be one of only two cat cafés in the Valley and the only location in the East Valley.
The 1,700 square foot cat cafe is designed for playing, relaxing and cuddling with cats. It will include many areas for these interactions including lounge furniture, a life-size climbing tree, wall perches, walkways and play cubes, as well as quiet spaces where the felines can rest.
More than just a cat café, Kitty Pause will bring the community together as a feline activity center offering events including yoga, bingo and painting, all while in the company of cats. Kitty Pause will also offer free Wi-Fi with lots of space to study or work with the companionship of the felines while keeping a safe social distance from others. The cafe will also feature the Katnip Boutique with fun items for felines and cat lovers alike.
“Kitty Pause Kitty Café is a feline activity center where joyful interactions between people and cats are made,” said Kitty Pause creator and owner, Marsha Ham. “We are so excited to share this space and vision with the community this spring and look forward to meeting visitors from across the Valley.”
Through a partnership with Saving One Life Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, a volunteer run, never-kill animal rescue, all cats in Kitty Pause will be fully vetted and ready for adoption. The space will allow potential adopters to engage with the felines in a fun and playful environment with the goal of helping them find their forever homes.
“We’re excited to partner with Kitty Pause to showcase our fabulous felines in an inviting and comfortable space,” said Carrie Neidorf, Director of Saving One Life. “Kitty Pause will become a hub for feline lovers from around the Valley – a gathering place to enjoy feline company, find a forever friend and to participate in fun feline-oriented activities.”
The vision for Kitty Pause was developed by Ham who was inspired by a visit to a cat café in San Francisco. Retiring from a long career in higher education, she is looking to share her love of cats through the new space. Kitty Pause is currently under renovation and Ham is looking for support from the community to raise the funds needed to complete the space. Cat lovers can help by donating to the Indiegogo fundraiser through Jan. 24, here.
