State 48 will open its fourth location this fall in the Westgate Entertainment District. Locally owned, the State 48 Funk House Brewery is a new concept that will feature sour beer, barrel-aged beers and a rotating offering of other “funky” fermented creations, all brewed on site.

Occupying the 18,243-square-foot former Tavern + Bowl location next to Yard House, the Funk House Brewery will include bowling, billiards and shuffleboard. The full-service restaurant will feature homemade recipes such as beer cheese steak and schnitzel sandwiches, buffalo tempura cauliflower, bone-in pork chops and a beef and pork meatloaf with ale-based gravy.

“State 48 is a great partner and its unique food and beverage offerings, coupled with the entertainment component, will complement the atmosphere of the property,” said Dan Dahl, director of real estate for YAM Properties. “The locally owned brewery and high-quality scratch kitchen operator has a strong fan following and will bring a fresh dimension to Westgate’s robust offering of dining and entertainment options.”

YAM Properties acquired Westgate Entertainment District in June and released the Tavern + Bowl space in less than four weeks following its closure on July 5. This is the second partnership between the brewery and YAM Properties – the State 48 Barrel & Lager House is slated to open in Scottsdale’s YAM Circle before the end of the year.

“We are thrilled to be opening another location in the West Valley and to be working again with YAM Properties,” said Mario Rana owner of State 48. “Westgate is a prime location for our newest concept and we can’t wait to start serving up locally crafted sour beer and plenty of fun at our State 48 Funk House Brewery.”
