They are continuing their monthly Chips for Charity fundraiser. For every $5 purchase of Salt and Lime’s unlimited chips and salsa, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a nonprofit.
This month’s recipient is the Niekro Aneurysm & AVM Foundation, named after Joe Niekro, a baseball pitcher who suffered a brain aneurysm rupture and soon thereafter died at age 61.
His daughter, Natalie Niekro, founded the Niekro Aneurysm & AVM Foundation, which supports patients and families, research, treatment, and awareness of brain aneurysms, AVMs (arteriovenous malformation) and hemorrhagic strokes. The nonprofit educates the public about the risk factors, causes, and treatment of these conditions while funding neurological research.
Checks are presented at the end of each month. Van Deraa asks the nonprofit to promote the program on its site, share it with its board and/or supporters, and schedule a function at the restaurant.
