Rev those egg beaters and prep your taste buds for some delicious fundraising, Scottsdale!

Sprinkles Cupcakes announced today that it has launched Candace’s Cupcake Challenge, a recipe contest that invites elementary students throughout Maricopa County to submit cupcake recipes that will be sold in Sprinkles’ Scottsdale bakery.

Phoenix-area classrooms are being asked to submit their cake and frosting recipes to Sprinkles by Friday, February 7. Candace Nelson, Sprinkles founder and judge on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars,” will then select her three favorite recipes which will be baked and sold at Sprinkles Scottsdale from February 24 to 28. All three winning schools will receive a monetary donation and cupcake prizes.

“We are so excited to offer Arizona school kids the opportunity to think creatively, learn more about baking and how ingredients work together, and inspire any budding entrepreneurs out there,” said Nelson. “We think that giving students a chance to see their creations selling in the real marketplace in a way that will also give back to their school, will spark a real sense of pride and achievement.”

The three winning recipes will be chosen by Nelson based on originality and taste and announced on February 12th. Phoenix-area residents will have the opportunity to “vote” for their favorite flavor by purchasing the cupcakes at the Sprinkles located at 4501 N. Scottsdale Road. The top selling cupcake will receive a $1,000 cash donation to the school and a cupcake party for the entire school. The second and third best selling cupcakes will each receive a cupcake party for the submitting classroom and cash donations to the school for $500 and $250 respectively.
