“Our team has been putting a lot of time and energy into creating a space that our customers will love,” says says CEO and Co-Founder, Mike Spangenberg. “Our aim is to provide Gilbert residents, and all residents of nearby East-Valley communities, more access to gear and accessories that is representative of everything the love about Arizona.”

Spangenberg, along with his Co-Founder and Creative Director, Nicholas Polando, have set their sights on becoming a one-stop shop for apparel in Arizona. Over the years, State Forty Eight has become well known for its Arizona-inspired clothing, but has become increasingly recognized as the go-to company for local businesses and organizations to market themselves.

The collaboration component of the business has been one of State Forty Eight’s largest revenue builders, giving company’s a local option for co-branded T-shirts, stickers or hats that showcase their Arizona pride. Moreover, this model allows State State Forty Eight to give back, with $1 from every collaboration T-shirt going to support the State Forty Eight Foundation and its mission to support and empower Arizona entrepreneurs and its nonprofit organizations.

In 2021 State Forty Eight collaborations brought in over $1.6 million in total revenue. As of October 2022, they are on track to beat that figures, having worked with more than 500 organizations and brought in $1.4 million in revenue.

“We’re is proud to work with a diverse group of organizations in Arizona,” says Spangenberg. “One of the most rewarding parts of our business is building relationships with our partners and helping add value to what they do.”

State Forty Eight Gilbert is the company’s largest location and features an elevated look with concrete floors, sleek wooden-and-matte-black fixtures, with the iconic State Forty Eight logo positioned prominently above the register. Customers can expect an array of new gear from T-shirts, hats and hoodies to custom drinkware and various Arizona-sports-inspired jerseys. The company will open quietly this month but is planning a grand opening celebration later this year. For hours of operation, visit www.statefortyeight.com/retailers/
