The Mission, one of the Valley’s most celebrated modern Latin restaurants from acclaimed Chef/Partner Matt Carter, is targeting its expansion to Epicenter at Agritopia in January, and is revealing details about this third location. Located at 3150 E Ray Rd #180, the new Gilbert outpost will reflect the hallmarks of The Mission brand — from its striking, candle-lit interiors and glowing Himalayan salt brick wall to its acclaimed menu featuring signature tableside Mission Guacamole, daily house-made tortillas, and the indulgent “Whole Roasted Pig Out” brunch feast. Guests can also look forward to an agave-centric craft cocktail program, highlighting tequila and mezcal-driven creations that have become a cornerstone of the restaurant’s identity.

The design of the Gilbert space was led by architectural duo Mendil + Meyer, known for their dramatic work at The Mission Kierland and Fat Ox. This new location will include an enclosed, lighter front area designed to feel like an outdoor patio with windows, while the main dining room and bar will be darker and more dramatic, reminiscent of Mission Old Town. Additional updates include a stunning bar with seating for 20, and two high-top community tables for guests to gather over food and drinks. For private events, a dedicated dining space for 35–40 guests with full audiovisual capabilities makes the restaurant an ideal venue for celebrations and business functions.

The menu in Gilbert will debut with The Mission’s most beloved dishes, including crispy pulled pork, Peruvian clam stew, pork shoulder for two, and the restaurant’s famous tableside guacamole. Over time, the culinary team will begin to integrate additional offerings unique to Gilbert, continuing the restaurant’s tradition of innovation. Guests can also look forward to the restaurant’s signature weekend brunch, featuring favorites like the Pig Out feast and specialty brunch cocktails.

“We’re thrilled to bring The Mission to Gilbert,” said Chef Matt Carter. “Epicenter is such a vibrant and thoughtfully curated community, and we can’t wait to share the flavors, atmosphere, and energy of The Mission with new guests while giving our longtime fans another place to enjoy the experience.”

This new opening marks another milestone for owners Brian Raab and Chef Carter. Together, they’ve established The Mission as a Valley favorite, with celebrated locations in Old Town Scottsdale and Kierland Commons, as well as other acclaimed concepts including Fat Ox and Zinc Bistro. With its opening this January, The Mission Gilbert will invite East Valley guests to enjoy the restaurant’s renowned Latin cuisine in a space designed for gathering, celebrating, and savoring every detail.
