Designed as a modern gathering place with a distinctly Phoenix sensibility, The Original Tavern will offer an inviting blend of indoor and outdoor surroundings, including a signature indoor/outdoor bar, a scratch kitchen and an atmosphere suited to a leisurely lunch, afternoon Happy Hour, dinner with friends or an evening watching the big game.
The concept will feature:
- More than 8,000 square feet, including a welcoming patio
- A spacious indoor/outdoor bar
- A scratch kitchen with a menu created for contemporary palates
- A robust Happy Hour
- Multiple screens integrated throughout to catch any big game, along with an LED video wall
- A golf simulator for interactive play and entertainment
“The Original Tavern is an upscale neighborhood tavern designed to be the place where people come to eat, drink, gather and stay awhile,” said S. Barrett Rinzler, CEO and Founder of Square One Concepts. “We’ve created an elevated yet comfortable environment where scratch-made food, genuine hospitality and an unparalleled sports-viewing experience come together under one roof. Whether you’re joining us for a great meal with family, meeting friends for Happy Hour inside or on our spacious patio, or coming in to watch the big game on our huge LED wall, The Original Tavern offers the quality, energetic atmosphere you want from a neighborhood gathering place—without the pretense.”
Rooted in the Beloved Traditions of a Phoenix Original. The Original Tavern draws inspiration from its sister concept, The Original Arcadia Tavern, a longtime neighborhood destination for sports fans, families and Phoenix tastemakers. Reimagined in 2025, The Original Arcadia Tavern continues to welcome neighborhood residents alongside new guests from across the Valley. The concept features a patio scene, scratch kitchen, HD screens, and a large LED wall for the latest sports action. Bicycle racks also make it easy for guests nearby to arrive easy on two wheels.
The Original Tavern at High Street will carry that same spirit of hospitality into a new setting — pairing the familiar warmth of a neighborhood spot with more expansive, perhaps even contemporary surroundings.
A Place to Catch the Game & Great Food. While sports will remain an important part of the Tavern experience, The Original Tavern is being designed as a destination beyond game day. The menu will focus on favorites such as shareables like Steak Tips and Grilled Asparagus to ‘Midwest Pizza’ selection, a variety of juicy Smash Burgers and entrée favorites such as Southern Fired Chicken, Grilled Salmon, Baby Back Ribs, a filet, even Prime Rib Dinner Friday – Sunday. A fresh beverage program complements the bountiful scratch kitchen offering, and a Happy Hour is designed for lingering afternoons and early evenings.
The indoor/outdoor footprint will take advantage of the relaxed, upscale Arizona lifestyle, giving guests the opportunity to dine and socialize in the open air while enjoying the energy of High Street.
For sports fans, a large LED video wall and multiple screens will provide an immersive way to experience major sporting events. Game day viewing areas will offer dedicated space for groups, while the golf simulator will add another layer of entertainment for casual play, group activity and even special events.
A New Social Destination at High Street. The Original Tavern will join the growing collection of restaurants, retail, residential, hospitality and entertainment experiences at High Street at City North, creating a new destination for residents and visitors from throughout the Valley.
From lunch meetings to Happy Hour, dinner and late-evening gatherings, The Original Tavern is designed to be a place guests can return to throughout the day and throughout the week.
The Original Tavern is scheduled to open at High Street at City North in 2027.
Additional details, including the exact opening date, location, menu and hours, will be announced as the opening approaches.
