Scottsdale has become a hub for oenophiles curious to explore the state’s unique terroir, and The Wine Collective of Scottsdale—which opened in April—is the only downtown tasting room and retail shop to showcase almost exclusively a variety of premium Arizona producers under one roof. And just for the summer, it’s offering a series of promotions for locals.

Owner Zoya Vora-Shah is a wine industry veteran who hand-selects each of the roughly 40 bottles on the shelves and prides herself on offering an experience that’s educational as well as relaxing and fun. Her goal is to expose wine aficionados to an array of the best Arizona has to offer while keeping prices reasonable:  Wines by the glass start at just $8, and most bottles retail in the $30s.

“There are so many excellent Arizona wines,” Vora-Shah said. “But not everyone is familiar with them or knows which ones to try. I wanted a tasting room that was virtually 100 percent Arizona wines. That’s why I opened The Wine Collective.” (The only selections not from Arizona are the acclaimed sparkling wines from Gruet in New Mexico.)

The Wine Collective’s summer specials are available to anyone who shows current Arizona identification. They include:

June: Sip four two-ounce pours of wines on a theme with a flight for just $15 (normally $18-22). Sample light, crisp and mineral-driven selections with the Gold Rush; enjoy the refreshing Rosé All Day; try a mix of red, white and rosé and Swing Both Ways; or tell your wine concierge your preferences and Just Trust Me — they’ll do the work to surprise you with something you’ll love.

July: Indulge in a gourmet food pairing with 20 percent off any nosh boards, which feature the highest quality artisan meats and cheeses and local sweets from Caroline’s Chocolates.

August: Purchase a bottle to imbibe on-site for the normal retail price with no corkage fee.
