The Church Hat is defined as a “Women’s Fashion Accessory” that cannot be used for any other purpose than ornamentation. This Church Hat is for self-expression, personal fashion, and an ornament to be worn within the confines of a place of worship (synagogue, church, etc.) while still maintaining its individuality.

The design was inspired by the classic men’s fedora with its brim flipped up on both left and right sides. This unique style can be described as “Angelic”. It is hand-made in Salt Lake City Utah using locally sourced materials sewn together with love and care.

Why do People Wear Them?

The Church Hat is a symbol of self-expression and freedom. The more you wear the Church Hat the more it consumes your daily thoughts and actions; eventually leading to permanent changes that expand on who you are as an individual.

Wearing the Church Hat will bring out your more confident, happier, healthy, and attractive side.

People will look at you differently and see what we like to call “the light” (inside and outside). It’s not uncommon for people to combine their newfound confidence with other pieces of clothing such as hats, ties, or suits.

Different Types of Hats

There are two types of Church Hats: Original and Deluxe.

The original is made from wool felt using a traditional hat block.

It has a pinched top with a 2 1/2″ brim that flips up on both left and right sides. The Deluxe model is made from cotton twill fabric and has an updated design with the brim flipped only on the left side, creating more angles for self-expression.

How to Make One at Home

Many websites are offering to sell you a church hat ready-made, but if you want to make one at home there are instructions on the website. But if you want one of the best you can go to etsy.com and purchase handmade church hats.

Church Hat Etiquette

First and foremost, the church hat is a fashion accessory. But unfortunately, some people have sought to make it a fashion statement which has led to a decline of its original purpose.

The Church Hat should be worn by men within places of worship (synagogues, churches, etc.) ONLY. Women are permitted to wear them for fashion purposes only (outside of houses of worship). As stated before, this unique style can be described as “Angelic” but sadly sometimes these hats are referred to as “Satanic” looking; especially the Deluxe model with its angular design.

These comments go against everything that I believe in and I wish not to disparage them further by repeating them here. It is oftentimes said that wearing the Church Hat will “Make you look like 50 million dollars” but this is an exaggeration.

If you want the best result, I suggest wearing a hat (deluxe model) with a suit or other formal apparel. You can view more Church Hat etiquette information on our website.

Some tips on how to care for your new set of church hats so that they last longer than just one season

Wearing the Church Hat will attract a lot of attention. The best way to avoid controversy is to make sure you are wearing matching colors or patterns on your clothing, hair, and/or accessory(s).

To keep it strong throughout the entire year trying to make sure it’s protected from rain, snow, flying debris, especially those nasty hornet nests! Try not to over-tighten the hatband as this may cause damage over time.

And lastly do not expose it to any type of cleaning as this may also lead to damage over time.
