Māyā Day + Nightclub, Steve LeVine Entertainment & Public Relations and Disco Donnie Presents (DDP) add Above &Beyond to their star-studded lineup at Māyā Day + Nightclub on Saturday, August 31.

The three members of Above & Beyond came together not as DJs, but as producers and songwriters and refer to themselves as “a band first and foremost.” The first two members of the group, Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki, met at the University of Westminster while studying electronic engineering. The pair discovered their shared interest in electronic music and began their label, Anjunabeats, in 2000 with the first single “Volume One” released shortly after. Final member Tony McGuinness joined the group in 2000 after he enlisted them to help complete a remix for his own label.

Since their formation, Above & Beyond has released an expansive and critically acclaimed discography and earned many accolades along the way. After remixing tracks from artists as diverse as Madonna, Britney Spears and Delerium, the trio released their first full-length album, “Tri-State,” in 2006, which was given a 5-star rating and described as “brilliant” by DJ Mag. The album’s single, “Air For Life,” was voted as “Best Underground Dance Track of the Year” and “Tune of the Year” by the Winter Music Conference (WMC). Their second full-length release, “Group Therapy,” was released in 2011 and quickly jumped to the top of the iTunes Dance chart.

The group is the only dance act to win BBC’s Essential Mix of the Year twice, first in 2004, prior to releasing any full-length albums, and again in 2011, following the release of “Group Therapy.” In 2009, Richard Branson invited Above & Beyond to DJ the launch of Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo in the Mojave Desert, marking the first and only recorded appearance of any electronic artist at the unveiling of a spacecraft. The group continues to remain extremely active, touring internationally and engaging thousands of fans via Twitter during their weekly trance radio show “Group Therapy” from London, UK.
