Sundt Construction, Inc. and its joint venture partner DPR recently started tenant improvements at the Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building on the University of Arizona Biomedical Campus in Phoenix.

“We are thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with UA advancing the reach of this world-class research space,” said Ben Perrone, Project Director for Sundt. “Building out these floors gives the Biomed Campus additional lab capacity to remain at the frontier of discovery and research.”

The improvements, a $20 million construction manager at-risk project, includes 48,000 square feet of improvements on the third and fourth levels and a portion of level five, which will add a wet lab and administrative research spaces to support additional faculty recruitment for the College of Medicine-Phoenix.

Sundt and joint venture partner, DPR initially completed the Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building in 2017.  The award-winning project included a 10-story, 245,000-square-foot building with two 80-person seminar rooms, six floors of wet laboratory space, two floors of dry laboratory space, a loading dock, centralized water purification system, centralized liquid nitrogen and wet benches. The upper floors consist of the dry laboratories supporting computational biology and biomechanical engineering. The project achieved LEED Silver® through implementing many sustainable solutions, including an energy-efficient copper shade screen, mechanical systems, water conservation, chilled beams and LED lighting.

Sundt has over 90 years of experience in Arizona, with offices in Tempe, Tucson and Phoenix. The company ranks in the top five of ENR Southwest’s top contractors.
