The latest Arizona REALTOR® Insights survey explored REALTOR® perspectives on the home features, amenities and outdoor spaces that buyers value most in today’s market, as well as which buyer groups appear most influenced by amenities during the homebuying process.

REALTORS® representing markets across Arizona including Maricopa, Pinal, Pima, Yavapai, Coconino, Cochise, Mohave and Navajo counties responded to the survey.

  • 91% of REALTORS® surveyed say updated kitchens are among the most requested home amenities.

Survey Findings

Home Amenities Play a Major Role in Homebuying Decisions

Home amenities continue to be an important factor for Arizona buyers.

  • 80% of REALTORS® surveyed said amenities are either very important (45%) or extremely important (36%) when buyers evaluate potential homes.
  • The remaining 20% said amenities are moderately important.

Updated Kitchens Remain Buyers’ Top Priority

When asked which amenities buyers request most often:

  • 91% selected updated kitchens.
  • 55% selected outdoor living space.
  • 34% selected storage space and closets.
  • 30% selected nearby parks, trails, or walkable amenities.

Amenities Matter Across Buyer Types

When asked which buyer group is most influenced by amenities:

  • 29% said amenities influence all buyer groups similarly.
  • 23% selected luxury buyers.
  • 20% selected growing families.
  • 16% selected 55+ buyers.

Buyers Are Placing Less Value on Traditional Home Features

When asked which amenity buyers seem least concerned about:

  • 27% selected formal dining rooms.
  • 27% selected fireplaces.
  • 25% selected media or theater rooms.

Outdoor Living Defines Arizona Home Appeal

Outdoor amenities remain a major part of Arizona’s lifestyle appeal.

When asked which outdoor feature adds the most value:

  • 32% selected covered patios or shaded outdoor living spaces.
  • 32% selected pools or spas.
  • 16% selected scenic views.
  • 11% selected outdoor kitchens or entertaining areas.
