After more than 40 years in Tucson, HSL Properties continues to be a vital business presence in the community, as well as a tremendous philanthropic partner, making donation contributions to a plethora of non-profit organizations and educational efforts throughout Southern Arizona and nationally. In 2015 alone, HSL donated over seven hundred fifty million dollars, through The HS Lopez Family Foundation, The H.S. Lopez Family Trust, HSL Properties Inc. and its affiliates to dozens of organizations and charities supporting a wide variety of causes, of which $120,000 was through the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The spirit of service and giving to others is a vital tenet to the values of the company, and something committed to year-round in order to make a meaningful difference to the city it calls home and the larger communities it serves. Locally, HSL contributed toward many of the non-profits essential to the city of Tucson, such as the Angel Charity for Children, Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse, Mobile Meals of Tucson, St. Andrew’s Children’s Clinic, Tu Nidito, and Youth on Their Own. Donations were also made throughout the state to the Arizona Coalition for Military Families in Apache Junction, the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation in Phoenix, and the Willcox Community Food Pantry.
“Giving back to the communities we work in is just one way we express our gratitude to the people who have kept us in business for decades,” said Omar Mireles, HSL Properties President. “As a company, we view making donations and contributions as an intrinsic aspect to the very DNA of HSL. We are fulfilled to be able to support worthwhile causes and do as much as we can to continually make our community an even better place to live.”
HSL also made efforts to support national organizations in 2015, like the American Cancer Society, Doctors Without Borders, March of Dimes Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, and The Salvation Army. In addition, the company contributed toward institutions promoting educational and workforce efforts such as the Educational Enrichment Foundation, JobPath, Live the Solution, and Up with People.
The HS Lopez Family Foundation was created by HSL founder Humberto S. Lopez and his wife Czarina in order to support causes which improve quality of life for all. The vision of the foundation is to significantly change the lives of those in need. This passion of the Lopez family is something they hope will also inspire others to give back as well as join them in efforts of community service and support.
