Preparations continue for the first phase of development on Abrazo Health’s new medical campus in Buckeye near I-10 and Verrado Way.

Grading and infrastructure work is grooming the site for a medical office building expected to break ground this spring.  Plans for Abrazo’s 27-acre campus call for medical offices, ambulatory services and an acute care hospital.

The first phase of development will be a three-story, 60,000-square-foot medical office building. Tenants are slated to include cardiology, orthopedics, spine, primary care and urology physician practices, physical therapy and other offices.

Abrazo Health is one of the leading health systems serving the greater Phoenix area. The Abrazo network includes five major medical campuses, microhospitals, freestanding emergency centers, primary care and specialty physician practices and graduate medical education programs.

Abrazo facilities already located in the West Valley include its Buckeye Emergency Center, a freestanding ER at I-10 and Watson Road, and the Abrazo West Campus, a 216-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and thrombectomy-capable Primary Plus Stroke Center in Goodyear.

Buckeye has been ranked as one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Abrazo officials anticipate that the new medical campus at I-10 and Verrado Way will be a healthcare anchor for the area and a driver of economic activity.

“We are excited to see the continued strong interest in our new medical campus. As a long-term partner of Buckeye, we have seen and felt the rapid growth of this area, as well as clearly heard the needs of residents, physicians, and our civic partners,” said Hans Driessnack, CEO of Abrazo West Campus.

Dallas-based healthcare facility developer Cambridge Holdings Incorporated will develop the new medical office building. Leasing services for the medical office building will be provided by Transwestern’s Phoenix office.
