On the 30th anniversary of the Arizona Multihousing Association (AMA) and Cox Communications Tribute Awards, a record 29 winners were honored as the best and brightest of Arizona’s rental housing industry.
More than 1,600 were in attendance on August 12 at the Phoenix Convention Center as the AMA — the statewide trade association for the apartment industry — hosted the 30th Annual AMA/Cox Communications Tribute Awards.
This year’s Tribute Awards was particularly significant in light of COVID-19’s impact. Special recognition was bestowed upon the strength and resilience of its members and leadership.
“Look around this room. It’s great to be back in person. Tonight, on the 30th anniversary, we celebrate the biggest Tribute Award celebration ever,” says Courtney LeVinus, AMA President and CEO. “This is a great way to come back from the pandemic. It fills my heart with joy to see everyone in person. This is the night we celebrate our own – the best and brightest in the industry.”
A record 790 nominations from 33 member companies participated. Volunteers donated more than 700 hours of their time to judge all the nominees. The AMA’s nomination and interview process is one of the most rigorous in the industry. Nominees complete an aptitude test and AMA judges conduct in-person interviews and some have personal shops or inspection of the properties and teams.
A total of 29 awards were handed out: 20 to individuals, five to teams and four to properties.
“I’m so proud to see our outstanding teams and individuals recognized tonight. I know it’s a special honor,” says Scott Hines, PEM Real Estate Group and the 2022 AMA board chair. “Our members do an impossible yet very important job each day and make it look easy. They do it to improve the quality of the industry. Tonight, it’s their chance to lift one another up and celebrate.”
Arizona’s apartment industry annually generates 131,000 jobs, $699 million in wages and an economic impact of $3.8 billion.
