Bob Mulhern, senior managing director of Colliers International in Greater Phoenix, will be honored with the Award of Excellence from NAIOP Arizona at its 2016 Best of NAIOP event on March 24 at the Arizona Biltmore.
The NAIOP Award of Excellence recognizes an individual who has made a significant, positive impact on the office and industrial commercial real estate market in Arizona over a period of not less than 15 years, along with direct volunteer contributions to the chapter.
“We are proud to bestow this Award of Excellence on Bob Mulhern for his more than 20 years of contributions to making NAIOP Arizona better through its educational offerings to members and philanthropic footprint in the community,” said Tim Lawless, president of NAIOP Arizona. “Bob’s wise and pragmatic approach during his years of tenure on the Board helped build NAIOP Arizona into one of the strongest chapters in the nation.”
“When considering the people who have positively impacted my real estate career, I realize that most of them have been active members of NAIOP,” Mulhern said. “The organization has fostered an incredible culture of teamwork and goodwill within our industry and I am grateful for the opportunity to be closely associated with NAIOP. It is an honor to receive the 2016 Award of Excellence from NAIOP Arizona.”
A member since 1994, Mulhern served on the NAIOP Arizona Board for 14 years, including president and chairman in 1996. He is currently chair of the education committee. In 1996, Mulhern moved NAIOP to a strategy of big events, beginning with a golf tournament that year, which has grown to be one of the most sought-after tickets on the calendar.
His major contribution to the chapter has been in the area of education, initiating the popular “Market Leaders” quarterly panels in 2011, and the “Lunch and Learn” programs in 2015. He played a key role in co-sponsoring NAIOP’s first Signature Speaker Series two years ago. He has also taught at the MRED graduate school program at Arizona State University the past few years.
“In short, Bob has not only spearheaded, but also expanded, NAIOP’s educational offerings,” Lawless said. “Besides education, Bob has been a leader in gathering groups on behalf of NAIOP to feed the homeless at the Human Services Campus in downtown Phoenix.”
As leader of Colliers in Greater Phoenix since 2009, Mulhern directs the brokerage operations at the firm. Mulhern has more than 30 years of experience and a highly successful track record managing brokerage, development and property management organizations.
Over the years, Mulhern received six NAIOP Project of the Year Awards, including the 2012 Redevelopment Project of the Year for the Veritas Preparatory campus, in addition to four awards while at Ryan Companies, and one while at Reliance Companies.
