FSL Real Estate Services announced that is was selected by the City of Phoenix to construct 121 energy efficient, affordable homes in the South Phoenix Village area near 24th Street and Broadway. The design phase will begin in this month and construction is slated to begin in July 2016. The project will be completed over the next three to five years.
“We’re excited to partner with the City of Phoenix to bring energy efficient and affordable homes to this neighborhood,” said Steve Hastings, Director of Real Estate Services, FSL. “We have a great deal of experience in this area and will include features that will save residents money on their utilities bills.”
A “meet the developer” event was held near the site of the new infill development project on Feb. 27, 2016.
City of Phoenix Vice Mayor Kate Gallego attended and told the crowd, “I am ecstatic to see this infill project move forward. After a series of public meetings to gain community input, the City of Phoenix has started a partnership with FSL Real Estate Services to convert 121 vacant lots in the neighborhood to new energy efficient, single-story homes over the next three to five years. This is especially exciting as it will be located in the heart of the Broadway Heritage Neighborhood, a truly mobilized neighborhood where residents actively volunteer and are dedicated to improving the neighborhood located between 24th Street to 32nd Street, Broadway to Roeser. Through this infill project, the City will be able to increase owner occupancy and achieve quality housing by building new, energy efficient, single-family homes at an affordable price. In addition bringing additional quality homes to the area will improve the area’s market conditions overall, facilitating high-quality development for the 24th Street and Broadway community.”
