Guests were invited to “set sail” with The Newport at its grand opening Friday, Dec. 4. Attendees arrived at The Newport (1106 E. Weber Dr. in Tempe) to sip on wine and champagne and partake in sushi and Italian tapas beneath the soft glow of canopy lights between six of the eight completed model homes. Guided by North & Co. agents, guests toured the three-story model homes all the way up to the rooftop patios, where they could take in the nightscape of the Valley. After a champagne toast, led by Brian North and Joe Risi, guests were chauffeured to Tempe Town Lake Marina for light bites and to experience the Newport lifestyle firsthand. The marina, aglow with geocubes and sailboats outfitted with holiday lights, was serene. You could see the bustle of the business district across the lake, but the marina was calming. Guests could pose for photos by a sail boat photo booth and many of them hopped onto customized Newport beach cruisers for a brief cruise around the lake before a big raffle that included the grand prize of a Mexican cruise.
