Background: Eileen GilBride is the senior member of the firm’s Appellate Department, and focuses her practice on representing clients in federal and state appellate matters and dispositive motions. She also counsels and assists trial lawyers in the substantive areas of their practices, from the answer stage through the post-trial motion stage. Eileen has handled over 500 appeals at every level of the state and federal courts, in Arizona and other states, which have resulted in more than 80 published decisions.

Source of pride: “The achievement most meaningful to me is probably having done what it takes to earn a professional reputation as a trusted and well-respected appellate lawyer in Arizona and having had a hand in the development of Arizona law over the last 40 years, all while having raised three happy, well-adjusted, and kind young adults.”

Professional advice: “I received two pieces of very helpful professional advice early in my career:  First, find and utilize an honorable and skillful mentor who will take you under their wing and show you the ropes.  Second, do everything you do as if the world were watching you.  Following these two pieces of advice helped me accomplish my most meaningful achievements mentioned above.   Also, I did not get this advice early on, but I stand by it:  if you are early, you’re on time; if you are on time, you’re late; and if you are late, you’re unacceptable.    One last one:  A leader is not the one standing at the back of the dog sled yielding the whip; the leader is the one who is running at the front of the pack.”

Music with impact: “John Williams’ theme from Schindler’s List … or actually any music composed by John Williams.  I am continually astounded by Williams’ limitless ability to create music that evokes the exact emotion called for in any particular moment.  He’s a genius.”
