Tempe-based Qwaltec, Inc. will be part of NASA’s five-year, $1.8 billion Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, awarded to Peraton this past June. Qwaltec will continue to support NASA’s key mission partner by providing technical training and engineering expertise, in support of flight operations and the development and maintenance of NASA’s essential communications systems for near-Earth missions.
SENSE is a follow-on to NASA’s Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) contract—led by Peraton and supported by Qwaltec since 2011— in support of the Exploration and Space Communications projects division at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).
“We’re looking forward to deepening our strong relationship with Peraton,” says Shawn Linam, CEO of Qwaltec. “Our contribution to enhancing space communications and navigation services through the SENSE contract aligns with our mission of being a recognized leader in the operation of space systems.”
“Peraton couldn’t be happier to have the systems engineering and technical training experts from Qwaltec on our award-winning SENSE team,” says Ronna Kirchoff, Peraton’s vice president of civil space programs. “The contributions of this trusted partner are vital to our mission’s success.”
As a NASA subcontractor since its founding, Qwaltec has supported a wide range of critical contracts and programs, such as SCNS, Space Network Ground Segment Sustainment (SGSS), the NOAA/NASA Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS), and now SENSE.
In addition to the systems engineering and technical training that the company will provide for the new SENSE contract, Qwaltec offers a wide range of products and services related to the development and successful execution of mission control centers, including ground systems operations and engineering, mission readiness services, software engineering, and operations assessments.
