In partnership with HandsOn Greater Phoenix and Arizona Financial Foundation, credit union volunteers dedicated the morning to beautification and improvement efforts at the YWCA in Glendale and a domestic violence shelter operated by A New Leaf in Apache Junction. The initiative reflects Arizona Financial’s long-standing commitment to strengthening Arizona communities through volunteerism, nonprofit partnerships and charitable giving.
“At Arizona Financial, our 90-year legacy is rooted in people helping people,” said Amy Hysell, President and CEO of Arizona Financial Credit Union. “Founded in 1936 to serve municipal employees and first responders, we have been deeply connected to our communities since day one. This day of service is a reflection of who we are, not just a financial institution, but a community partner committed to making a meaningful, lasting impact.”
At the YWCA in Glendale, volunteers built and planted garden beds to support the organization’s Meals on Wheels program, created an outdoor café space with seating and barbecue amenities, painted a vibrant outdoor mural and refreshed the dining room with new furniture, shelving and organization systems.
“YWCA is building a world where every woman has what she needs to live a life of health, fulfillment, and freedom no matter her identity, income, or story,” said Sharifa Rowe, interim Executive Director with YWCA. “We are so appreciative that Arizona Financial volunteers are keeping this dream alive by investing in our campus to create a beautiful and safe environment that will help women flourish.”
In Apache Junction, volunteers supported a domestic violence shelter, Community Action Against Family Abuse, recently acquired by A New Leaf, completing similar beautification projects, all to help create a safe and uplifting space for families living there. The effort directly aligns with one of Arizona Financial Foundation’s core pillars – supporting organizations that provide safe spaces, advocacy and resources for survivors of domestic violence.
“The support from Arizona Financial and their volunteers means so much to the families we serve,” said Michael Hughes, A New Leaf CEO. “The projects completed today help create a sense of comfort, safety and normalcy during incredibly difficult times. We deeply appreciate their compassion and commitment to our mission.”
The initiative reflects Arizona Financial’s long-standing commitment to strengthening Arizona communities through volunteerism, nonprofit partnerships and charitable giving — a mission now further amplified through the Arizona Financial Foundation, a dedicated 501(c)(3) focused on financial empowerment, first responders, community investment and support for critical issues including domestic violence assistance.
