In the latest CoworkingCafe study, we set out to determine the best states where professionals looking to land their next job could find the most enticing opportunities. For this, we broke down all of the U.S. states according to their respective region, across multiple relevant metrics, like the job availability, the share of population with higher degrees and the state income tax burdens, among other. So, what is the best state for job seekers heading into 2025?

In our first installment of the series, we dive into the top Western states for finding a job in 2024.
Key points supporting Arizona’s place in the ranking:
- Arizona is the #4 Western state for job-seekers in 2024, scoring great across the metrics analyzed;
- With a 2.5% state income tax – the second-lowest in the region after Washington, Nevada, Alaska and Wyoming with 0.0% – Arizona is an attractive location for professionals looking to maximize their earnings in the Western region;
- Arizona took the third spot both for an average of 199 job openings per month and for the 19 top company headquarters located here;
- Moreover, with 125,253 new business applications, the state also ranks third for entrepreneurial activity, creating a dynamic environment for job creation and innovation;
- California, Washington and Nevada took the Western region podium. On a national level, Arizona comes in 15th place, at a tie with North Carolina.
