Background: Scott Gruwell is the president and CEO of Courtesy Automotive Group, a family-owned business based in Phoenix since 1955.  Scott started at Courtesy Chevrolet as a retail salesperson 26 years ago and as CEO, has grown the company from two to six stores adding Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram, Volvo, Kia, Isuzu Truck and Polestar brands.  Courtesy has increased its revenue 331%.  Scott is active in the Scottsdale Charros; Executive Council of Phoenix and actively supports both Brophy College Preparatory and Xavier College Preparatory.

Source of pride: “I’m most proud of the ‘“’Courtesy Way’”’ that teaches staff how to gain lifetime customer loyalty. I’m proud Courtesy Chevrolet has been Dealer of the Year for 20 out of 21 years. I enjoy being the president of Valley Chevy Dealer Association a member of Xavier College Preparatory Board of Trustee and a Scottsdale Charros member. Giving back to our community which has given our organization so much support through our 68-year history.”

Professional advice: “I would encourage a young person to be persistent, never give up and to understand that the harder they work, the luckier they will be.”

Surprising fact: “People may be surprised to learn that I was a competitive swimmer and a state record holder when I was younger.”
