Desert Botanical Garden appointed several local leaders to the Garden’s Board of Trustees, which include:
John Burnside, an attorney with the Phoenix-based law firm Snell & Wilmer LLP, has been appointed to the Desert Botanical Garden Board of Trustees. He is rejoining the board of trustees following six years of service from 2009 to 2015. His community and board activities included the Volunteer Center of Maricopa County and Tempe Rio Salado Rotary.
Doug Carter, the CEO of UPWARD, one of the oldest organizations in Arizona serving families and children with special needs, has been appointed to the Desert Botanical Garden Board of Trustees. Currently he is a community volunteer for Desert Oasis Hospice where he provides companionship for patients.
Dirk Ellsworth, vice president and chief information officer at DMB Associates, Inc., has been appointed to the Desert Botanical Garden Board of Trustees. He serves on DMB’s charitable contributions committee supporting many of the Valley’s non-profit organizations.
Carrie Hulburd, a longtime advisory board member for Johnson Bank (Arizona), has been appointed to the Desert Botanical Garden Board of Trustees. She participates in the governance of the Heard Museum, TGen Foundation, Planned Parenthood of Arizona, Columbine Garden Club, the Arizona branch of the Nature Conservancy, and the Arizona Women’s Board (AZ Kidney Foundation).
Michael Lowe, deputy general manager of customer operations and services, and chief customer executive for Salt River Project, has been appointed to the Desert Botanical Garden Board of Trustees. A 36-year veteran at SRP with former roles in pricing, finance and information systems, he has delivered a host of services that enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
