The American Society of Legal Advocates (ASLA) named Michelle N. Ogborne, a founding partner of Phoenix-based Ogborne Law, PLC, as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” Family Law Attorneys in Arizona for 2016.
“It is an honor to be selected by the American Society of Legal Advocates for this distinction,” Ogborne said. “It is my goal at Ogborne Law to help my clients through some of the most emotional and life-altering times of their lives, and to understand the legal aspects of every situation. I am very proud of this achievement and it makes me feel good to know that I am respected within the legal community.”
ASLA is an invitation-only legal organization founded to identify and promote outstanding legal talent throughout the country. The organization invites lawyers who combine stellar legal credentials with proven commitment to community engagement, leadership and the highest professional standards.
Ogborne was named to the exclusive “Top 40 Under 40” Attorneys for Arizona following an independent ASLA review of tens of thousands of lawyers in the United States. The researchers selected their “40 Under 40” and “Top 100” lists for each state, which amount to less than 1.5 percent of attorneys nationally.
Ogborne Law, PLC, is a leader in the area of mediation and collaborative divorce, which are family focused methods of alternative dispute resolution in family law. Collaborative divorce occurs when the attorneys for both parties agree to assist the clients to resolve conflicts outside of court by employing cooperative techniques rather than adversarial strategies and litigation.
All of the parties involved commit themselves to achieving a negotiated outcome and it is agreed that no litigation will be commenced during the negotiations. If a settlement cannot be reached, then attorneys will remove themselves from the case and not participate in any ensuing litigation. It allows the parties to be in control of the process and develop customized solutions for their family’s unique circumstances.
Ogborne provides her clients with compassionate and effective legal representation, while utilizing a creative problem solving approach that ensures her client’s rights, interests, and kids are protected during the process.
Michelle Ogborne received her Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia and her law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Prior to opening her own practice, she worked for a national products liability defense litigation law firm and a local insurance defense law firm.
In 2015, The American Institute of Family Law Attorneys named Ogborne one of the “10 Best” Attorneys in Arizona for 2015.
Born and raised in a small town in rural southern Indiana, Ogborne became a leader in her community at a young age. Her desire to help people change their circumstances and achieve their goals ultimately led her to pursue a career focused on empowering individuals to regain control after a close friend committed suicide because he felt powerless to change his situation.
Before Ogborne attended law school, this desire to empower people to change their situation led her to work in a Phoenix-area domestic violence shelter, where she ascended to become the shelter’s director, as well as to become a strong advocate for a variety of community programs promoting awareness for domestic violence.
