Construction industry veteran Wayne Einbinder has been named Arizona Regional Executive for Kitchell Contractors, marking a return to the company that sparked his longtime career in the building industry.

“Wayne has a great resumé in markets where we want to grow, including higher education, hospitality and Native American,” said Kitchell Contractors President Steve Whitworth. “His decades of experience are a great resource for our younger professionals, as we grow their expertise.”

Einbinder was most recently a vice president with Sundt Construction in Phoenix and San Jose, Calif. He helped establish Kitchell’s Sacramento office in the mid-80s, managing California State Prisons projects. He then moved to Arizona where he became operations manager in the west and southwest.

Einbinder will oversee Kitchell Contractors’ 300-plus workforce in Arizona, which focuses on CM at Risk, design-build, general contracting and preconstruction, using leading-industry technologies and approaches. Kitchell’s largest current Arizona projects are the Health Sciences Innovation Building at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Emergency Department Expansion and the Salt River Pima – Maricopa Indian Community Justice Center. The company was also recently awarded the renovation of the Phoenician Resort, one of Arizona’s tourism landmarks.

Einbinder graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a registered Civil engineer, obtained his LEED accreditation and is a DBIA-designated Professional. He has managed several large construction programs for Arizona municipalities, including the Sky Harbor Capital Improvement Plan, a City of Phoenix bond program and the Downtown Phoenix Sheraton Hotel, among others.

In 2016 Kitchell was ranked as the 6th-largest commercial contractor in the Southwest according to Engineering News-Record, and is consistently ranked as one of Engineering News-Record’s top 200 commercial contractors in the country.
