Denyse Airheart has been named Interim Director of Economic Development for the City of Maricopa. In this role Airheart is responsible for attracting new industry, business, and investments to the City of Maricopa and coordinating economic development activities with other City divisions, departments, and the community.
“I am pleased to have Denyse Airheart join our executive team,” said City Manager Gregory Rose. “Denyse’s more than seven years of experience in business development and recruitment will serve as a significant asset fulfilling the City’s vision of a prosperous future.”
Airheart joined the City of Maricopa in August 2013 to support and broaden the City’s retail, commercial and industrial base. Airheart manages a number of noteworthy tasks such as marketing the community to retailers and employers, the business retention and expansion program, shop local and the Maricopa Advocate Program. Airheart takes pride in serving as a liaison to the business community, citizen committees, non-profit organizations, special interest groups and neighborhoods by proactively providing information specific to the City’s economic development department. Airheart received her bachelor’s degree from California State University Fullerton and holds a Master’s in Business Administration.

The Economic Development Director reports directly to the City Manager and the Department is responsible for business recruitment, retention, and expansion operations; implementation, and oversight of an international economic development strategy; contract creation, monitoring, and compliance; workforce development programs; collaboration with community development partners; budget and financial development.
City Manager Rose will appoint an Economic Development Director in the next few months.
