As Earth Day approaches, companies are celebrating with events — both active and educational — that get residents into the “green” spirit. One such celebration is the EcoAvenues 2011 2nd annual collaboration of the Southwest Valley event.
On Saturday March 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Estrella Mountain Community College, families can enjoy a FREE day of activities that promote ways to see the latest in environmental products and services.
Hosts of the event include EcoAvenues, Buckeye Valley Chambers of Commerce, EMCC and the cities of Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Tolleson.
EcoAvenues is a collection of cities and chambers that work together to help communities strive toward a sustainable community.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about energy sources, hybrid emission transportation, recyclable building materials, innovative “green” technologies, locally-grown organic foods, and much more.
Kids will be able enter a kid-friendly zone full of fun-filled youth activities such as bike rodeo, face painting, eco-crafts, science project competition and live animals from the World Wildlife Zoo.
Bringing together businesses, organizations and volunteers help the Southwest Valley be an independent, more sustainable and healthier environment — guiding the lives of those in it to be better protected.
If you have e-waste — electronic equipment nearing end of use such as fax machines, computers and cell phones, Goodwill Industries will collect them and accept donations.
New and innovative technology exhibitors will display unique and organic products to enhance our everyday living and increase public awareness.
Showcase your company or city by contributing to being green.
