The Arizona Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) board of trustees announced the appointment of Roger Stinton as the provider network’s new executive vice president.
In this position, Stinton will be focused on continuing to grow AFMC’s role as an innovative preferred provider organization working to help employer groups – in Arizona and beyond – improve healthcare access, reduce overall costs and improve health outcomes.
In addition, he will focus on new product development, improvements in contracting methods and building a solid foundation between AFMC, physicians and hospitals.
“We are very pleased that Roger has agreed to step into the role of executive vice president. He has tremendous business acumen, deep knowledge of the inner-workings of network plans and a broad set of experiences, all of which are critical in the rapidly changing healthcare market”, commented board of trustees chairman Michael R. Mills, MD, MPH. “The Board of Trustees believe that we identified the best person to lead our organization boldly into the future.”
“I am truly honored to assume the role of executive vice president and thank Dr. Mills and the board of trustees for all their incredible support,” Stinton said. “I’m excited to begin the process of strategizing our next generation of network products and medical management services in dialogue with our local and national strategic business partners.”
Stinton has a very successful and solid 24 year career, which includes tenures as regional vice president for Great West Healthcare, CIGNA, United and Abrazo Health Care.
Stinton succeeded interim executive vice president Tracy Mitchell, who assumed the duties of the position after Anthony Mitten’s retirement in January of 2012.
