Leila Barraza, JD, MPH and Robert Clarke, JD have joined the Esperança board of directors, according to a Monday announcement.

Barraza is an assistant professor at Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona.

Esperança provides volunteer surgical missions, health education, training of community health workers, home building, clean water projects, micro enterprise, agricultural development, dental treatment and prevention programs, and sends donated medical equipment and supplies to project sites around the world. 

She also serves as a consultant with the Network for Public Health Law – Western Region Office. Barraza received a Master in Public Health from the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona in 2004.

She received her Juris Doctor with a Certificate in Law, Science, and Technology from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 2008.

Clarke is a first-year associate attorney in the intellectual property group at Snell & Wilmer. He attended Willamette University and earned a B.A. in Chemistry and Economics in 2010.

He received his Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University in 2015.

Prior to pursuing his law degree, Clarke was a claims adjuster for Progressive Insurance and also served as a volunteer youth leader at St. Francis Parish in Sherwood, Oregon.
