Tempe’s oldest restaurant — Monti’s on Mill Avenue — is looking for the hippest, coolest name for its new outdoor patio, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open at the end of February.

Red Rooster is designing the patio; Pat Foley Construction is the general contractor.

The new 2,000 SF patio is nothing like the inside of historic Monti’s. Everything outside will be new, from the patio seating for 130 people, to the three fire pits, to the urban bar stools,

Located just outside the front doors of Monti’s and facing Rio Salado Parkway, the new outdoor patio will also have its own menu, drink menu and 12 specialty beers on tap.

Contestants can send their name suggestions along with their name, address, phone number and email address to NamethepatioforMontis@gmail.com. The contest ends Feb. 2.

The winner will be notified by mail and email and will receive a complimentary party in March for 20 friends on the outside patio.

“The Valley and Tempe have always been really good to us,” said Michael Monti, owner of Monti’s. “So we thought it was only fitting to let the people who have coming to Monti’s for generations pick the name of our new patio.”
