Former Hermosa Inn executive launches hospitality business
After spending over 35 years working with some of the most unique hospitality brands in the industry and transforming The Hermosa Inn into a world-renowned AAA Four Diamond resort, Michael Gildersleeve has since set out to help other brands achieve the same success by forming his own company, Patton Asset Management.
“After overseeing so many expansions, upgrades, renovations and transitions of ownership, I knew I could be an asset to others in helping them achieve the same success I had,” said Gildersleeve. “The services my company provides range from big-picture to the day-to-day. Patton Asset Management’s fully integrated, independent management services not only provide advisory and management support for the hospitality industry, but they also assist with hotel and restaurant openings, growth strategies, transitions, remodels and daily operations. By combining a deep expertise in every facet of hospitality while balancing long-term strategy and applying lessons learned, Gildersleeve intends to deliver superior guest experiences and strong returns for brands across the Southwest.
While this is the beginning of Gildersleeve’s entrepreneurial career, his hospitality roots run deep. He got his start in hospitality in the 1970’s, when he helped open three new resorts and restructure six properties under Marriott Hotel & Resorts as part of the company’s task force team. Gildersleeve then moved to Phoenix in 1984, where he gained much of his restaurant experience as the Executive Chef for Carefree Resorts’ new Buttes Resort. After helping to make it an award-winning culinary program, he moved out of the kitchen and into several managerial positions with Carefree over the next 17 years. This stage in Gildersleeve’s career culminated in his promotion to Resort Manager at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona. The company was then sold in 1997, prompting his transition to the Director of Operations role with Destination Hotels and Resort.
It was in 2003 that Gildersleeve accepted a position as the managing director of The Hermosa Inn and LON’s in Paradise Valley, Arizona. There, he not only helped achieve a AAA Four Diamond award for both the resort and restaurant, but also improved relationships with the surrounding neighborhood by working with local government agencies, attracted national recognition for the hotel and took it from a struggling property to a modern, world-class resort. Meanwhile, Gildersleeve also led several other local projects to success, including The Southbridge District in Scottsdale and Bell Mar Plaza in Surprise. In 2014, Gildersleeve transitioned from an employee to The Hermosa Inn’s asset manager, helping transfer the property to new ownership and oversee the first phase of their much-anticipated remodel.
With multiple clients already in his roster and more projects to be announced soon, Patton Asset Management is already poised to be an industry leader.
