The seven-story Cambria hotel coming to Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row Arts District is looking to fill 50 positions in preparation of its opening at the end of 2019. According to Indeed.com, Cambria Downtown Phoenix will increase available hotel jobs in Phoenix by more than 13 percent to a total of 421 positions.
Cambria is hiring across all areas of the hotel, including the front office, maintenance engineers, servers, bartenders, hosts and housekeeping. Of the 50 open positions, six will be management roles.
Despite Phoenix’s low unemployment rate of 4.8 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Cambria General Manager and 19-year industry veteran, Shaun Baker, isn’t worried about finding qualified applicants.
“Thanks to our location, we expect to have a high number of candidates,” said Baker. “The urban footprint makes hiring easier, especially with ASU’s Downtown campus so close. What really works in our favor, though, is the light rail. Working downtown is just a matter of jumping on the train.”
The hotel is another project for True North Studio, the Arizona developer with a growing portfolio in the Roosevelt Row area. Keeping with True North Studio’s vision, Cambria Downtown Phoenix will support local art, while the building itself will feature five-story murals by artist Heather Freitas.
The hotel will be managed by Oxford Hotels & Resorts, a Chicago-based national hotel management company specializing in high energy lifestyle hotels and food & beverage venues. Cambria Downtown Phoenix will feature a chef-driven ground floor restaurant and destination rooftop bar and event space featuring a zero depth pool. Both venues will host a rotating calendar of events and programming, including rooftop yoga, mixology classes and holiday parties.
The selection process will begin on October 7 at 9 a.m. Interested candidates can visit the monOrchid gallery at 214 E Roosevelt St. in downtown Phoenix or apply online at cambriahotelphoenix.com.
