Sub-Zero Group, Inc, the leading manufacturer of luxury appliances, is undertaking a $34 million expansion to its facility in Goodyear, Ariz. The project is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to Goodyear over the next four years.

The expansion will add 248,000 square feet to the existing Goodyear factory, bringing the facility to 700,000 square feet. Site preparation will begin in December, 2015. The project, which will be built by Brycon Construction, is expected to be completed in fall of 2016.

A privately-held, family-owned company, Sub-Zero Group, Inc. began manufacturing operations in Goodyear in 2011 where it now produces over half of all Sub-Zero refrigeration products. The facility is the largest manufacturing company in Goodyear.

“We are proud to be part of the Goodyear community and appreciate the support of Mayor Georgia Lord, the City Council and the staff,” noted Ron Jones, Plant Manager of the Goodyear facility.  The Sub-Zero Goodyear plant is the first manufacturing plant on the new 303 corridor, and is also the first site activated as the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) in the Greater Maricopa FTZ created in 2012.

Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord added, “The City of Goodyear is thrilled to be a partner to Sub-Zero. We are pleased to see the tremendous growth they have experienced over the past four years, creating more quality jobs and investment in our community. This expansion speaks to the caliber of their products, the quality of their workforce and the strength of their leadership.”

Sub-Zero Group, Inc. recently completed the largest product introduction in the company’s 70 year history with the introduction of the New Generation, a new series of products from Sub-Zero and Wolf featuring more than 60 appliances engineered to excel in both performance and design. In July 2015, the company also announced a 400,000 square foot expansion to its Wolf manufacturing facility located in Fitchburg, Wis.

“During the last several years, our company has invested resources in the research and development of new products,” said Jim Bakke, president and CEO of Sub-Zero Group, Inc. “We will continue to focus on lean state-of-the-art manufacturing practices throughout the organization, to ensure our leading edge quality control and flexibility, and to remain industry leaders in the face of changing market demands and competition.”

Sub-Zero Group, Inc. was founded in 1945 by Westye F. Bakke in Madison, Wis. In addition to facilities in Goodyear, the company also has operations in Wisconsin and Kentucky.
