Most Admired Companies of 2022: USAA

After receiving a record number of nominations, 50 companies have risen from the adversity of the past couple years and earned the right to call themselves Arizona’s Most Admired Companies of 2022. The Most Admired Companies of 2022 includes USAA.

Arizona’s Most Admired Companies of 2022 will be celebrated at an awards dinner and ceremony from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Chateau Luxe, at 1175 E. Lone Cactus Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85024.

Most Admired Companies: USAA

Most Admired Company: 2015-2019, 2022

Top executive: Wayne Peacock, president and CEO

What it does: Insurance, banking and investment, and retirement providers to more than 13 million members of the U.S. military, veterans and their families.

Admirable trait: USAA employees give and volunteer at levels that reach the top 10% in corporate America in terms of engagement and generosity. Some highlights from employee giving from 2016-2021 include $4.6 million in donations from 54,000 USAA employee to unique local and national causes; $78.1 million-plus given by USAA employees with USAA corporate match and rewards to nonprofits serving military families and local communities; and 54,000 USAA employees tracked 1.5 million volunteer hours to 12,600 different causes.

USAA impact: In 2020-21, during the pandemic, USAA employees donated more than $19 million to nonprofit organizations and logged nearly 400,000 volunteer hours. To maintain its strong tradition of service amid COVID-19, the company provided upwards of 80 virtual opportunities for employees to safely contribute their time and talent in the USAA Serves volunteer program.
