Joanne H. Osborne, owner and CFO, Osborne Jewelers
Background: As an award winning business owner of Osborne Jewelers, for the past 35 years, Osborne focuses on customer service and quality. She believes in “being a leader in your industry, in your community and in the areas that move your heart and soul.” Her community is her motivation. She knows when the West Valley prospers, so do small businesses. She followed her own advice and served the public; 11 years on the Goodyear City Council and four years as an Arizona State Legislator. She served her industry nationally as a board member for the Independent Jewelers Organization and for over a decade has mentored teenagers, she founded the Arizona Teen Leadership Academy. Joanne serves as the president of the Maricopa County Board of Health, the Abrazo Hospital board, Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers, Daughters of the American Revolution and many others.
Advice to younger self: “Not everyone will see it, but you are one of the most courageous people out there. Give extra attention to your family. Your fiscal conservative self will take you far.”
Wish for legacy: “I would hope that people know that everything I did and said came with Integrity, heart and a bit of pragmatic courage.”
Surprising fact: “I took lots of acting classes and was a cheerleader in school, many people may know that about me, I never had a problem with giving a speech or cheering for people. However, sometimes in the toughest of speeches, I could actually feel my spine ache as I was having to stand my ground.”
